Photo of the week, September 21st

As we continue to look at the isolated communities in Ghana, it is amazing to see how the development of certain villages demonstrate a 'town planning' like approach. This community on the south bank of the Afram is growing quite nicely, and as can be seen from the tracks on the left of the image, is close to a watering point for cattle. Sadly, there is no evidence of a clean water supply, and so their water is probably taken downstream from the cattle bathing and drinking spot, with its associated risks and dangers. So much can be gleaned from studying aerial photos, in relation to population, economic activity, agriculture and health. Photo Courtesy of Medicine on the Move http://www.medicineonthemove.org/ .
